The Carrollton Dawnbreakers Rotary Club
We are Dawnbreaker Rotarians and we put Service Above Self.
The Rotary Club of Carrollton sponsored the formation of the Carrollton Dawnbreakers Rotary Club in December, 1996. Our club was chartered on February 21,1997. We still meet every Wednesday morning at 7:30a.m. at Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton, Georgia.
John T. Lewis, PhD., a long-standing and dedicated member of the Carrollton Rotary Club, worked diligently during the creation of our club and throughout its first year, extending invaluable advice and assistance. In appreciation and in recognition of his service to Rotary, Carrollton Dawnbreakers Rotary Club awarded its first Paul Harris Fellowship to Dr. Lewis in November 1997. We also bestowed an Honorary Membership in Carrollton Dawnbreakers to Mr. Lewis.
We are a 100% Paul Harris Fellowship club, donating $1000 for each new Rotarian per year.
Many of our charter members are former members of the Carrollton Rotary Club, a noon club, who found our early morning meeting time more attractive. From around twenty-five initial members, we have grown to an average of thirty-eight, twenty- one of whom are charter members. Many of these held leadership roles in the sponsoring club, providing important experiences in the development of our club
We currently have a strong membership of business and professional leaders from the community who, even as new members, have become involved in committee and leadership roles. We look to channel that energy and enthusiasm into productive service to our club and community.
